Ian

Ian’s journey to Ingersoll Animal Hospital has been a winding road filled with adventure, creativity, and a deep love for animals. His path into veterinary care started when he was feeling burnt out at an old job and decided to take a leap into something he was truly passionate about—working with animals. That leap of faith landed him at an animal hospital in Evanston, Illinois, where he quickly fell in love with helping pets and their owners. Now, as a Patient Care Coordinator at Ingersoll Animal Hospital, Ian is thrilled to be back in a field he adores.

One of Ian’s favorite things about his job (besides being surrounded by adorable animals all day) is connecting with pet parents. He knows firsthand how much pets mean to their families and loves being a reassuring presence for new clients looking to find the perfect care for their furry companions. He also has a soft spot for those extra-shy pets—like the nervous little pup at his old clinic who refused to take a photo unless Ian was in it with him! Moments like that remind him why he loves what he does.

Beyond the veterinary world, Ian has an impressively diverse background—he’s worked in education, photography, culinary arts, TV and film production, sports, and even news. Fun fact: the only time he made it on-camera during his news days was thanks to his encyclopedic knowledge of ’90s boy bands (shoutout to his older sister for that one!). A lifelong helper at heart, Ian’s dedication to service started young through the Boy Scouts, where he earned his proudest achievement—Eagle Scout.

At home, Ian and his wife, Emily, have lovingly dubbed their household The Island of Misfit Pets. Their dog, Stevie, a Blue Heeler mix, and their two cats, Bella (a Norwegian Forest Cat) and Little Grey (a Persian), all found their way to them after previous homes didn’t work out. It’s a full house of rescued love, and Ian wouldn’t have it any other way. When he’s not wrangling pets or coordinating patient care, he and Emily enjoy cooking, gaming, and cheering on Iowa State.
